Selander Tallies 11 Points in Win For Women's Lacrosse

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (8-1, 1-0 ASUN) opened conference play with a 22-18 win over Kennesaw State (4-7, 0-1 ASUN) on Saturday afternoon in Kennesaw, Ga. The Lions have now won six in a row.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions jumped out in front at the 11:28 mark as Alissa DiGiacinto found the back of the net. Less than a minute later, Clair Blue gave the Lions a 2-0 lead off a feed from Ryleigh Cavanaugh. Kennesaw State cut the deficit in half, before goals from Reese Krieger and two more from DiGiacinto put the Black and Gold up 5-1. The Owls scored the last two goals of the quarter to trail 5-3 after one

Eight goals were score by Lindenwood in the second quarter, starting with Breylin Bright, quickly followed by Claire Blue to put the Lions up 7-4. The Owls responded with one, before Lindenwood went on a 4-0 run with three scores coming off the stick of Luci Selander, stretching the lead to 11-5. The two teams traded goals to end the frame and Lindenwood led 13-7 at the break.

Kennesaw State opened the third quarter with the first three goals, cutting the deficit to 13-10, before DiGiacinto stopped the run. The Owls scored the next five, going up 16-14. Selander halted the run with a score before the end of the third, making the score 16-15 after three.

Lindenwood eventually took the lead in the fourth, 18-17 with back-to-back goals from Bright. After the Owls tied it at 18 apiece with just over four minutes to go, Lindenwood closed the game on a 4-0 run with two goals from Selander, one from Blue, and one from Krieger as the Lions picked up a 22-18 road victory to begin conference play.
