Men's Volleyball Records 14 Aces in Win Over Purdue Fort Wayne

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (7-12, 4-7 MIVA) picked up a four-set win over Purdue Fort Wayne (9-11, 2-9 MIVA) on Saturday afternoon in Hyland Arena

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the game on a 4-0 run with a pair of aces from Zach Solomon. Lindenwood maintained a comfortable advantage in the set behind a .478 team hitting percentage. The Black and Gold went up 20-14, but the Mastodons rattled off four consecutive points to cut the deficit to 20-18, which forced a Lindenwood timeout, The Lions settled back down, and the set was finished off by Jacob Christopher who had a team-high six kills at 25-20.

Set two was a back-and-forth one with Lindenwood up 15-13 at the media timeout. Purdue Fort Wayne came out of the break with four-straight points to go up by two and Lindenwood needed a timeout. The Lions pushed back in front 22-21 with a kill from Owen Walsh, and a kill from Christopher a few points later gave Lindenwood set point at 24-22. However, the Mastodons won the next four points to take the set 26-24.

Lindenwood grabbed an early advantage in the third set from the service line. After a kill from Carter Stenmark, he stepped behind the line and had four-consecutive aces to put the Lions in front 11-5. The Black and Gold continued to maintain a comfortable advantage as a kill from Brendan Louthain put the home team in front, 18-13. Lindenwood eventually won the set 25-20.

In the fourth set, Lindenwood won the race to 10 after a kill from Christopher. The Lions kept extending their lead late in the set, holding a 20-13 advantage. The match was finished off by Stenmark at the service line with back-to-back aces at 25-14.
