The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (7-13, 4-8 MIVA) fell in three sets at No. 6 Loyola Chicago (18-2, 9-2 MIVA) on Thursday night in Chicago, Ill.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The first set was a back-and-forth one early with Lindenwood down 12-11. The Ramblers went on a 3-0 run to gain some separation at the media timeout. The Lions pulled back within one later in the set after an ace from
Carter Stenmark, making the score 18-17. Loyola Chicago extended the lead late and took the first set 25-23.
Brendan Louthain had a team-high five kills in the opening stanza.
Loyola Chicago jumped out to a 11-5 lead in the second set, which forced a Lindenwood timeout. The Lions rattled off three-straight out of the break to close the gap, but the Ramblers regained control, going up 19-11. Loyola would take the set 25-14 and go up 2-0 in the match.
After trailing early,
Zach Solomon tied the third set at four apiece with an ace. The Ramblers then rattled off four-straight points and took control midway through the set, leading 15-10. Lindenwood battled back and git within two at 18-6 after a kill from Louthain. Loyola went back up five, 22-17 with a run and grabbed the third set 25-17 to win the match 3-0.
