The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (7-14, 4-9 MIVA) fell in three sets to No. 6 Loyola Chicago (19-2, 10-2 MIVA) on Friday night from Chicago, Ill.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The Ramblers won the race to 10 in the opening set, going ahead 10-6, and held that four-point advantage into the media timeout. Loyola Chicago continued to maintain a comfortable advantage and Lindenwood tried to claw back with a kill from
Jacob Christopher making the score 22-19. The Ramblers took the first set 25-20.
Lindenwood trailed 11-7 early in the second set, but an ace from
Brendan Louthain closed the gap to 11-9. The Ramblers held a slim advantage late in the set, but Lindenwood closed the gap to 22-21 with a kill from
Amir Grant. Loyola Chicago would go up 24-22, but a kill from
Carter Stenmark made the score 24-23. Loyola Chicago picked up the next point and went up 2-0 in the match.
In the third set, the two teams went back and forth early and Lindenwood tied it at 10 with an ace from
Zach Solomon. An ace from
Ian Schuller later in the set followed by an error from the Ramblers gave Lindenwood a 15-14 lead. Loyola Chicago responded, however, taking a 22-19 advantage late in the set, and eventually won the third, 25-21.
