The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (4-10, 1-6 MIVA) fell in three sets to No. 3 Hawaii (16-1, 2-0 Big West) on Wednesday night.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The Rainbow Warriors jumped on Lindenwood early, getting out to a 10-2 advantage which forced a Lindenwood timeout. Hawaii went on to take full control of the set, winning 25-13, going up 1-0 in the match.
The Lions settled in for a batter second stanza, hitting .400 overall as a team.
Brendan Louthain put Lindenwood in front early with a kill, making the score 4-2. The Black and gold continued to hold a slim lead, before the Rainbow Warriors made a run to grab a 15-14 advantage at the media timeout. With Hawaii up 20-16, Lindenwood rattled off three-straight points, including a big block from
Carter Stenmark and
Owen Walsh, cutting the deficit to 20-19. Hawaii was able to close out the set, however at 25-20.
In the third set, Lindenwood got out to a 4-2 lead after a Stenmark kill. The Lions then fell behind but regained the lead with an ace from Louthain at 12-11. The seesaw battle would continue from there with both teams trading points. Three-consecutive kills from Louthain late in the set had the third tied at 25 apiece. However, the Rainbow Warriors got the next two points and won the set, 27-5, and the match 3-0.
