Men's Volleyball Falls in Four to No. 3 Hawaii

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (4-11, 1-6 MIVA) battled No. 3 Hawaii (17-1, 2-0 Big West in four sets, but fell Friday night on the road.

MATCH OVERVIEW
Hawaii won the race to 10 in the first set, going up 10-5 which forced a Lindenwood timeout. The Lions got within two at 15-13 after an Owen Walsh kill. However, the Rainbow Warriors took control of the set late, winning it 25-16.

The second set was a back-and forth one, with Lindenwood trailing 10-8, the Lions tied it with back-to-back kills from Jacob Christopher and Brendan Louthain. The Black and Gold took a slim 16-14 lead after a block from Christopher and Amir Grant. The two teams traded points until a termination from Carter Stenmark put Lindenwood up 24-22. The Lions finished off the set and tied the match at one.

Points were traded early to begin the third set, but Hawaii gained some separation and took a 10-7 lead. The Rainbow Warriors continued to hold a slim lead at 18-14. Lindenwood used a 4-0 run to knot the set at 18, capped off by a big block from Christopher and Walsh. Lindenwood eventually took the lead at 21-20 with a triple block by Christopher, Walsh, and Stenmark. The set was tied at 24 after a kill from Stenmark and 25 after a kill by Zach Solomon. However, Hawaii took the next two points and won the third 27-25.

Lindenwood jumped out to a 13-9 lead in the fourth, which forced Hawaii to call timeout. The Lions led 15-10 at the media timeout with a kill from Walsh. The Rainbow Warriors came out of the break with five-straight points that tied the set at 15. Hawaii grabbed the lead, and the Lions eventually got within one at 22-21 after a termination by Cole Schuler. The Rainbow Warriors were able to finish off the set at 25-23 and take the match 3-1.
