ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood baseball (17-17, 6-4 OVC) evens their series against SIUE (14-19, 7-4 OVC) on Saturday with a resounding 7-0 win at the Lou Brock Sports Complex. Starting pitcher
Josh Newell (W, 6-2) threw a complete game in the win allowing just four hits while striking out seven.

The Lions finished the game with nine hits scoring seven runs with no errors. The Cougars had four hits in the scoreless outing committing one error while leaving four runners stranded. Lindenwood's offense was able to get on base in-part to six walks.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lions were able to get the bases loaded with two walks and single by
Mitch Cummins in the second. Edwards then delivered one of his three singles scoring the first run of the ball game. Charlie Ison-McCall then hit a sac fly to left field scoring
Bryson Arnette from third to make it 2-0 Lions.
Newell allowed three of his four hits through the third and fourth inning, but left all of them stranded on base. He allowed just one hit during the remainder of the game, occurring with two outs in the ninth.Â
Lindenwood added to their lead in the fourth inning scoring three runs on three hits. With runners at first and second, Edwards delivered again with and RBI single to right field scoring Cummins. Radosevich added a two-out two RBI double in the fourth putting the Lions in front 5-0.
Funkhouser was able to add to the Lions lead in the bottom of the seventh with a two RBI double down the left field line scoring
Tyler Thompson and
Sam Grunberg. Lindenwood ended the 7-0 shutout in the ninth with a Newell strikeout evening the series at 1-1.
