Men's Volleyball Secures Four Set Win On Senior Day

Lions won the final match of the regular season, finishing with a 7-9 record in the MIVA

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood men's volleyball (10-14, 7-9 MIVA) defeated Queens (10-19, 2-14 MIVA) on Saturday by a final score of 3-1. The Lions locked themselves in at the number six seed during the MIVA Tournament, ending the regular season with a 7-9 conference record.

Lindenwood started the match in overtime fashion for the second straight game against Queens winning 29-27. There were 12 ties and four lead changes in the set but Vargas ended the set with a service ace. Stenmark (four kills) and Walsh (three kills) led the way offensively as LU hit .300 for the set.

After a 3-0 start for the Lions in the second set, Queens responded with a 13-5 run to go ahead 13-8. The Royals were able to tie the match in the second beating the Lions 25-17. Lindenwood was held to just .185 in the second set while Queens hit .478. Stenmark added another four kills in the second.

Lindenwood changed their starters in the third as Schuller dominated with six kills willing the Lions to a 25-23 set victory. The Lions' defense limited the Royals offensively as they hit just .077. Vargas added 12 assists in the third as the Lions took a 2-1 victory heading into the fourth.

The fourth set saw the Lions clinch the victory on senior day as Lindenwood put away Queens winning the set by a score of 25-22. Lindenwood had a total of 18 kills in the fourth led by Schuller with seven. Walsh also added six kills helping the Lions hit .448 for the set.
