Lacrosse Earns 18-12 Victory on Senior Day

The Lindenwood lacrosse team (10-4, 3-2 ASUN) celebrated its seniors on Saturday with an 18-12 win over Stetson (5-10, 0-6 ASUN) from Hunter Stadium

GAME OVERVIEW
Neither team scored through the first seven minutes of the game, until Luci Selander found the back of the net at the 7:46 mark. 13 seconds later, Ryleigh Cavanaugh doubled the Lions lead, followed by scores from Alissa DiGiacinto and Selander again, giving the Lions a 4-0 lead. After Stetson scored a goal, Cavanaugh netted her second of the day, off a feed from DiGiacinto. Reese Krieger made the score 6-1 before the end of the quarter.

The two teams traded goals to begin the second quarter, with Krieger scoring again, raising the lead to 7-2. The Hatters responded with a goal of their own, before Selander found the back of the net for the 51st time this season, giving Lindenwood an 8-4 lead. A pair of goals from Cavanaugh grew the lead to 10-4 and forced a Stetson timeout. The Hatters scored two out of the break, followed by one each from DiGiacinto and Selander, making the score 12-6. Stetson scored one just before the half, as Lindenwood led 12-7 at the break.

Stetson opened the scoring in the third, but goals from Selander and Tatum Bryant pushed the lead to 14-8. The two teams traded scores during the third quarter with the Lindenwood goals coming from DiGiacinto and Krieger. The Black and Gold led 16-10 after three.

Breylin Bright got the scoring started in the fourth with a man-up goal, before Stetson made it 17-11 a few minutes later. With just under nine minutes to go in the game, Krieger netted her fourth of the day, growing the lead to 18-11. The Lions went on to pick up an 18-12 win on senior day. Aislinn Sweeney was strong in net, making 14 saves and earning her 10th win.
