The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (10-5, 3-3 ASUN) fell in the regular season finale to Queens (6-11, 3-3 ASUN) by a score of 18-7 on Saturday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got the scoring started less than a minute in, as
Alissa DiGiacinto found the back of the net, assisted by
Isabella Jahkhah, giving Lindenwood a 1-0 lead. Queens answered right back, tying the game at one. The Royals took their first lead of the game just past the midway point of the quarter at 2-1.
Coming out of the media timeout,
Ryleigh Cavanaugh evened the score at 2-2 with her 14
th goal of the season.
Aislinn Sweeney was strong in net, making eight saves in the opening quarter, keeping the game tied after one.
Queens got the first goal of the second quarter to go up 3-2, before Selander responded and knotted the game at three. The Royals scored the next four goals to go up 7-3. DiGiacinto put an end to the run with just under two minutes to go in the half. Queens found the back of the ne late in the half and took an 8-4 advantage into the break.
The two teams traded goals to begin the third quarter, with Cavanaugh getting her second of the day, assisted by DiGiacinto, before Queens answered back with the next two to take an 11-5 lead. Resse Krieger got the Lions back on track with a goal, making the score 11-6. Queens finished the quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 15-6 lead after three.
In the fourth, Queens scored the first two goals before
Claire Blue found the back of the net, assisted by Jahkhah, making the score 17-7. Queens went on to win 18-7.
