Phil Steele Tabs 12 Lions to Preseason All-Conference Teams

On Friday, Phil Steele released its All-OVC Big South Preseason teams, which featured 12 student-athletes from the Lindenwood football team. Steve Hall was also tabbed the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Hall landed on the first team and continues to garner preseason recognition. The St. Louis, Mo. native had a breakout redshirt freshman season a year ago, running for 808 yards and five touchdowns, while averaging 7.3 yards per carry. As a result, he grabbed many postseason honors, including Big South-OVC Offensive Freshman of the Year, Phil Steele Conference Freshman of the Year, Honorable Mention AP FCS Freshman All-American, and FCS Central Freshman All-American.

Also joining him on the top team are Darrin Fugitt and Jayden Patrick. Fugitt caught 14 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns last season. Patrick was one of the top defensive backs in the Big South-OVC. The Tulsa, Okla. led the team with nine pass break-ups and that also ranked sixth in the conference. He also ranked top five in interceptions with three, which led the team and finished the year with 34 total tackles.

Nate Glantz leads the Lions' second team selections. A year ago, The Elkhorn, Neb. native threw for 2,333 yards and 17 touchdowns, while completing 59 percent of his passes, while also rushing for six scores. Glantz will have his right tackle back on the offensive line in Gavin Hulet who was also a second team selection. Eric Gant will be an anchor in the secondary along with Patrick. Last season, Gant compiled 37 total tackles and one interception.

The defensive lone was well represented on the third team, with three picks up front. Kobe McClendon. In 2024, McClendon finished with 32 tackles and two sacks. Ashtin Rustemeyer tallied 16 total tackles, including four for loss, while Tajay Passmore finished the year with 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Devon Edwards and Jacob Waller will anchor a linebacker core this season and both garnered a third-team selection. In his first season as a Lion in 2024, Waller ranked second on the team in tackles with 63, including 44 solo stops. Nelson Pipes will return as the long snapper for the 2025 season.
