Women's Soccer Comes Away With 0-0 Draw Against Belmont

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood women's soccer team (3-1-2, 0-0-0 OVC) came away with a 0-0- draw in Sunday afternoon's match against Belmont (2-1-1, 0-0-0 MVC).  The draw extended the Lions unbeaten streak at Hunter Stadium to 10 games dating back to last season.

Game Overview
For the first time this season, the Lions took more shots in the first half than they would in the second, outshooting the Bruins 5-2 through the first 45 minutes. Of those five shots, two were on goal, with Lindenwood's best scoring opportunity coming on an Anna Johnson attempt from inside the box in the game's 22nd minute. However, the Belmont keeper managed to turn the chance away for a save.

Despite taking just four shots in the second half, Lindenwood still had their chances, including a penalty kick attempt by Tasneem Dizdarevic that went just high and off the post. The Lions also had six corner kicks in the frame but were unable to convert any of them for scores.

Belmont upped the pressure in the second half, taking a total of nine shots. Caroline Ritter was up to the task, however, posting six saves to complete her third shutout performance of the season.

Quotable
"We just completed the toughest phase of the season. Including preseason, we've had eight games in four weeks. Our performance was very good today against a quality opponent. Right now, its all about improving as the season progresses." - Dave Musso
