Football Welcomes Stony Brook For Home Opener on Saturday

The Lindenwood football team (1-2, 1-0 OVC-Big South) returns home on Saturday for its home opener after three road games to start the 2025 season. The Lions are set to take on the Stony Brook Seawolves (1-2, 0-0 CAA) at 6:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lions are coming off a thrilling 35-28 comeback victory over Charleston Southern in the first conference game of the year last week. Lindenwood went down 21 points in the first half, but scored 35 unanswered points to secure the victory. The 21-point comeback was the largest for the program since 2019 when the Lions came back from down 24-7 down against Truman State to defeat the Bulldogs 28-24.

The comeback was led by quarterback Nate Glantz who accounted for four touchdowns, three rushing and one passing. Glantz became the first Lindenwood quarterback since Cade Brister in 2022 with three touchdowns via the ground and one through the air. The Elkhorn, Neb. native ranks 11th in the FCS with four rushing touchdowns so far this season. His favorite target through the air was Jalen Smith who ended the game with a career best six catches for 96 yards.

Jared Rhodes and Rico Bond were responsible for the other Lindenwood touchdowns. For Bond, it was his second time in the endzone in as many weeks. Rhodes finished the day with a career-high 16 carries and now leads the team in rushing yards with 111 through the first three games of the year.

Defensively, Lindenwood forced multiple turnovers for the second-straight game. Sam Owens picked up his first-career interception and the offensive drive was turned into points by the Lions. Jacob Waller posted a career-high 17 tackles, including 13 solo stops and as a result he was named the OVC-Big South Association Defensive Player of the Week.

Lindenwood has gone 6-4 in its last 10 home openers and posted a record of 4-2 last season inside Hunter Stadium. The Lions will be back on the road next week, taking on Miami (OH)
