ST. CLOUD, MINN. - Lindenwood Women's Hockey fell in their season opener to St. Cloud State by a final score of 5-0 on Friday night.
Madison Bowtell kept the Lions in the game during the first 20 minutes of action as she recorded 15 saves and allowed one goal late in the first period. Bowtell finished the game with a career-high 38 saves in the contest as Lindenwood was out shot 43-18.
In the second period, the Huskies would add a second goal six minutes in to take a 2-0 advantage as the score stayed that way after 40 minutes of play. In the third, St. Cloud State scored three goals including two on the power play. The Lions had four power plays of their own throughout the contest, but were unable to convert as they went 0/4 and recorded three shots.
Zsofia Pazmandi led the team in shots with three, while five other players recorded two shots of their own, including Freshmen
Tatiana Blichova and
Michaela Paulinyova.
Lindenwood will wrap up their series with St. Cloud State tomorrow afternoon with puck drop set for 2 p.m.
