Women's Soccer Downs Morehead State 3-0

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Lindenwood women's soccer team (5-3-3, 2-1-0 OVC) picked up three points with a 3-0 win over Morehead State (3-9, 1-2-0 OVC) on the road on Sunday afternoon. It was the Lions' first three-goal performance of the season.

Game Overview
Lindenwood opened the scoring in the 16th minute when a Lily Sutter cross into the box found the right foot of Anna Johnson, who powered the ball past the MSU keeper for a score. Mackenzie Compton was also credited with an assist on the play.

The Lions added to their lead 20 minutes later on an Allison Schrumpf strike from the top of the box that found its way to the top left corner of the net, evading the outstretched arms of a diving Eagles goalie. It marked Schrumpf's third consecutive game with a point. Rachel Jackson assisted on the goal from the corner.

Lindenwood had eight total shots with six shots on goal in the half while limiting Morehead State to just five shots with zero on goal.

The Lions remained on the attack coming out of the break, and in the 60th minute Mackenzie Compton was able to shake a Morehead defender in the box before tucking the ball into the top right corner to put the Lions up 3-0 on an unassisted goal.

Morehead State outshot Lindenwood 7-4 in the second half but were unable to get on the scoreboard as the Lions secured their sixth shutout of the season.

Ava Blum, Mackenzie Compton, and Anna Johnson led Lindenwood with three shots apiece in the match, with all of Compton and Johnson's attempts being on goal.

Quotable
"Today was a great response. We took care of the details, had high work rate, and we were connected in all phases of the game. Our group has to continue to grow each game so we eventually peak at the right time." - Dave Musso
