The Lindenwood men's golf team concluded the Derek Dolenc Invitational in a tie for ninth. The Lions compiled a team score of 848 across the two-day tournament. Franscisco Gavilan continued his good play, finishing sixth.
OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the tournament with a team score of 280, its lowest of the year so far. That effort was led by
Jan Wdowka who fired a five-under 66, which included five birdies and no bogeys. He was closely followed by
Francisco Gavilan Fernandez who came in with a 67 with the help of a team-high six birdies.
Owen Shy had the highlight of the round with a hole-in-one on the par 3 12
th and finished his round with a 72. Rounding out the lineup was
Santiago Juesas Benet with a 75, and
Samuel Bergenstein who carded a 76. Individually,
Yash Rao shot an 80.
Lindenwood carded a team score of 286 during the second round, led by Gavilan Fernandez who fired a one-under 70. He had four birdies during his round and an eagle on the par 5 6
th. Three Lions shot 72, including Wdowka, Shy, and Bergenstein, while Juesas recorded a 74. After two rounds, the Black and Gold sat in 10
th place, three shots back of ninth.
The Black and Gold closed out the tournament with a 282, led by Juesas who fired a four-under 67. He finished his round with three birdies on the final four holes. Three other players were under par on the day, including Gavilan with a 69, while Rao had his best collegiate round with a 70. Bergenstein finished with an even-par 71. Rounding out the lineup was Wdowka with a 75 and Shy who shot 78.
