MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - Lindenwood Women's Hockey (7-16-2, 5-9-1 AHA) got into the win column for the first time in 2026 with a 3-2 victory at Centene Community Ice Center behind
Molly Henderson's three goal performance. Henderson scored a goal in each period to fuel Lindenwood's seventh win of the season.
In the first period, the Blue Hens struck first on a goal from former Lion
Kaitlin Finnegan at the 7:03 mark of the opening period. Less than a minute later, Henderson scored her first goal of the game and evened the score at one after
Paige Cline recorded an assist on the play. The Lions outshot Delaware 17-6 in the first period, but the score remained tied for the remainder of the opening frame. The lone goal of the second period came off the stick of Henderson less than two minutes into the period with the assist on the play belonging to
Nicole Pietrucha. LU added another goal early on in the third period to extend their lead to 3-1 with just over 17 minutes remaining in the game, but the Blue Hens cut the lead to one less than two minutes later to make it 3-2 in favor of the Lions. After the Delaware goal, Lindenwood had to kill off two Blue Hen power plays later in the period and the Lions were able to kill off both of them to hang on for the victory.
LU outshot Delaware 42-19 for the contest and Henderson led the way with eight shots on goal, followed by
Hannah Dods and
Paige Cline who each had five shots on goal apiece.
Lexington Secreto recorded her team-leading fourth win of the season this afternoon making 17 saves. Secreto made six stops in both the second and third periods and stopped the final five shots she faced in the game. Defensively, the Lions blocked 10 shots as
Tatiana Blichova and
Rhaea Flint each had two.
Lindenwood will wrap up the series with the Blue Hens tomorrow afternoon with puck drop set for 12 p.m. CT at Centene Community Ice Center.
