On Wednesday, the Ohio Valley Conference released its preseason golf polls. The women's team was picked to finish fourth and received a total of 43 points, while the men's team was selected sixth with 55 points.

Morehead State was picked to finish first on the women's side while Little Rock, Tennessee Tech, Lindenwood, and Southern Indiana round out the top five.

Paula Mariana Sanchez was selected as the Lindenwood golfer to watch. During the first half of the season, the Colombia native led the team with a scoring average of 78.7 and had a low round of 75.

On the men's side, Little Rock, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech, SIUE, and Morehead State make up the top five with Lindenwood just behind them. Francisco Gavilan Fernandez was picked as a golfer to watch after an outstanding start to his freshman campaign.

The Spanish native is tied for third in the OVC in scoring average at 71.1, which leads the team. He has four top 20 finishes in five events, three top 10 finishes and one top five finish. Gavilan Fernandez was also named OVC Golfer of the Week once this season.

The women's squad will return to the course March 8-10 at the SoCal Spring Invitational in Camarillo, Calif., while the men's team will compete in the Austin Peay
Intercollegiate on March 23-24 in Dickson, Tenn.
