ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Tennis team (1-1, 0-0 OVC) picked up their first win of the 2026 season on Saturday evening with a 4-3 win over Drake University at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo. The Lions were able to pick up singles wins at the number two through five spots after dropping both doubles matches at the number one and three spots.
Megan Caffin got her first singles win of the season winning her match in three sets. Caffin dropped the first set 5-7, but came back and won sets two and three by scores of 6-4, 6-3 to improve her singles record to 1-1 in 2026.
Michelle Trochez and
Sofija Dunisijevic both improved to 2-0 in singles play with wins at the number three and five spots and
Paola Garcia picked up her first singles win of the season at the number four spot. Trochez, Dunisijevic, and Garcia all won in straight sets with Trochez winning 7-5, 6-4 over Drake's Shiori Takeda. Dunisijevic won her match at the number five spot by scores of 7-5, 6-4 and Garcia won 6-4, 6-4 over Milana Dejanovic.
Drake took their second and third points of the match at the number one and six spots as
Mathilde Humbert won the opening set 6-2 at the number six spot but ultimately fell in three sets dropping the next two by scores of 2-6, 3-6. The Lions will be back in action in a few weeks when they head to Indianapolis where they will play their first road match of the season at IUPUI. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 14.
