The Lindenwood lacrosse team (0-2) fell on the road at Eastern Michigan (2-1) by a score of 14-11 on Wednesday afternoon.
GAME OVERVIEW
Eastern Michigan jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with a trio of goals before the midway point of the first quarter.
Charlize Vang put an end to the run with her second of the year at the 4:57 mark.
Nicole Gorman cut the deficit to one a few minutes later, and just before the quarter, Vang tied the game off a feed from
Carly Thiel.
Claire Blue capped off a 4-0 run to begin the second quarter giving the Lions a one-goal lead. The Eagles scored the next two and took a 5-4 lead with 10:28 remaining. Eastern Michigan remained in front throughout the middle frame and scored two more goals to take a 7-4 lead. However,
Reese Krieger got the Lions back within two, netting one just before the end of the quarter, cutting the deficit to 7-5 at the break.
Lindenwood tied the game at seven with two quick goals by
Luci Selander and Vang. The Eagles responded by going on a 3-0 run, taking a 10-7 lead with 6:15 to go in the third. EMU would score one more and grab an 11-7 lead, before
Alissa DiGiacinto netted her first of the day, closing the gap to 11-8, which would be the score after three.
Selander cut the deficit to 11-9 with a goal 36 seconds into the fourth. Eastern Michigan restored a three-goal lead with one at the 9:15 mark of the final frame. The two teams traded goals throughout the rest of the quarter with Selander and
Tatum Bryant scoring for Lindenwood. It wasn't enough, however, as the Lions fell 14-11.
