The Lindenwood lacrosse team (0-3) came up short in an 11-9 loss to Akron (2-0) on Saturday afternoon in Akron, Ohio.
GAME OVERVIEW
Akron took an early 2-0 lead before
Alissa DiGiacinto cut the deficit in half five minutes into the game. Akron regained the two-goal lead, but
Charlize Vang found the back of the net just over a minute later, making the score 3-2. The Zips scored again to go up 4-2, but Lindenwood scored the final three goals of the frame, coming from
Sarah Jardine, Vang, and DiGiacinto, giving the Lions a 5-4 lead after one.
The Zips netted two goals before the midway point of the second quarter to grab a 6-5 lead. Lindenwood evened the game at six with a man-up goal by
Reese Krieger with 3:44 to go and that would be the score at the half.
Akron scored a minute and a half into the third to regain a 7-6 lead and would double its advantage with six minutes remining in the period. Less than a minute later, Krieger scored another, pulling the Lions within one before
Tatum Bryant tied the game at 8-8, finding the back of the net off a feed from
Isabella DiSciascio. The two teams continued to go back and forth as Akron took the lead 9-8, but it didn't last long as Bryant evened the game at nine apiece, which would be the score after three.
In the fourth, Akron scored two quick ones to grab an 11-9 lead. Lindenwood was unable to break through offensively in the final 15 minutes of play and fell by that score on Saturday.
