Women's Basketball Concludes Road Trip at Tennessee Tech

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (21-7, 13-4 OVC) carries a five-game winning streak into a matchup with Tennessee Tech (14-12, 7-10 OVC. on Saturday. Tip-off from the Eblen Center is set for 1:00 p.m.
 
For the third time in their last five games, the Lions had five players in double figures in a 75-70 victory over Tennessee State on Thursday. Lindenwood now has the most road wins in the Ohio Valley Conference with nine on the season. The five-game winning streak is Lindenwood's longest of the year and the victory put the Black and Gold in sole possession of second place in the OVC standings.
 
In the balanced offensive attack, Aleshia Jones and Ellie Brueggemann each had 16 points, followed by Brooke Coffey with 15, Gracie Kelsey with 11, and Mya Skoff chipped in 10. For Skoff, it is her fifth-straight game scoring in double figures.
 
Kelsey stuffed the stat sheet against the Tigers, grabbing eight rebounds, which was her second-highest total of the season and tying a career-high with those six assists. The Agency, Mo native has scored 11 points in three out of the last five games. She is second on the team in rebounding behind Coffey averaging 4.8 per contest.
 
Coffey has scored at least 15 points in seven of the last nine games and has had 10 or more in eight of nine. The St. Charles, Mo. native went 6-of-9 from the field against the Tigers and continues to lead the OVC in field goal percentage at 55.2 percent. That number also ranks top 30 nationally.
 
Brueggemann continues to be effective from deep, as she knocked down three more shots from beyond the arc on Thursday. She has made three or more three pointers in 19 games this season and is shooting a robust 44.1 percent from three-point range on the year, which ranks top 15 nationally. As a team, Lindenwood entered the week shooting 38.4 percent from distance, ranking third in the country.
 
Lindenwood will be looking for the series sweep of the Golden Eagles as they picked up a 66-55 win on January 22 in St. Charles, Mo. In that game, Jones had her best scoring output of the year, notching 32 points, just two off her career high. So far this season, she has had seven 20-point games and averages 15.1 points per game, which leads the team and ranks  fifth in the conference.
 
The Lions will return home following this game and conclude the home slate by hosting Easten Illinois on Thursday, February 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
