GAINESVILLE, FL. - The Lindenwood Softball team (6-6, 0-0 OVC) fell in both matchups on day two of the University of Florida Tournament with a 4-1 loss to Middle Tennessee and an 8-0 loss to Florida.
Izzy Wilcox produced the only run of the day in the first game against MTSU with a solo home run to left field.
GAME 1: MIddle Tennessee 4, Lindenwood 1
Middle Tennessee took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run to center field to put them up 1-0. The Lions tied the game at one in the top of the fifth thanks to
Izzy Wilcox's first home run and RBI of the season. MTSU would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead and added on to their lead in the bottom of the sixth by scoring two runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Lions ended the game with five hits as
Jolie McMinn led the way with two while
Karter Skillman and
Madisen Noll each added one.
GAME 2: Florida 8, Lindenwood 0
The Gators scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead and added on to their lead in the third and fourth innings to take an 8-0 lead after four innings of play.
Tori Hatton and
Kylee Crowder recorded both hits for Lindenwood in the contest.
The Lions will finish the Florida Tournament tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. against Longwood.
