Women's Hockey Drops Series Opener To #4 Penn State

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - Lindenwood Women's Hockey (11-18-2, 9-11-1 AHA) fell to #4 Penn State on Friday afternoon by a score of 6-3. Zsofia Pazmandi, Paige Cline, and Josey Dunne-Weeks each lit the lamp for the Lions but it wasn't enough to overcome the Nittany Lions at Centene Community Ice Center.

Pazmandi scored the opening goal of the game off assists from a pair of Freshman Forwards in Michaela Paulinyova and Tatiana Blichova at the 2:23 mark of the first period to give Lindenwood the early 1-0 lead, but Penn State responded less than a minute later to even the score at one and added three more goals later in the frame to take a 4-1 lead after the first period. The Nittany Lions netted another goal in the second period making it 5-1, but the Lions put up two goals later in the period as Paige Cline scored her seventh goal of the season on an unassisted play to make it a 5-2 game. The Nittany Lions added another goal to extend their lead back up to four by a score of 6-2, but Josey-Dunne Weeks cut the deficit to three by adding her fourth goal of the season with Molly Henderson and Blichova recording assists on the play to make it a 6-3 game after two periods of play. No goals would be scored in the third as Lindenwood's three game winning streak was ended by the number four ranked team in the country.

Hannah Dods and Paige Cline led the Lions with six shots on goal each in the contest with Penn State as Lindenwood put up 37 shots on goal compared to the Nittany Lions 44. The Lions will wrap up their final home series of the regular season tomorrow afternoon with puck drop set for 1 p.m. CT. It is Senior Day for Lindenwood tomorrow afternoon where Josey Dunne-Weeks, Molly Henderson, Zsofia Pazmandi, and Lucie Quarto will be honored before the game starts.
