MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team (11-19-2, 9-12-1 AHA) fell for the second straight day to #4 Penn State by a score of 5-0 on Saturday afternoon inside Centene Community Ice Center.
Penn State scored two first period goals at the 3:25 and 13:39 marks to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Lions killed off a first period Nittany Lion power play to generate some momentum, but the Lions finished the first with seven shots on goal as
Ellie Muscedere and
Tatem Starlight-Yellowfly each recorded two. Penn State added on to their lead in the second period at the 18:18 mark to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room at the end of 40 minutes. PSU outshot Lindenwood 10-5 in the second frame and killed off one Lion power play late in the period to keep LU off the scoreboard.
In the third period, the Nittany Lions found the back of the net two more times to take the series finale by a score of 5-0. The Lions had 26 shots on goal for the game and were led by
Zsofia Pazmandi and
Tatiana Blichova who each had three shots in the contest.
Lindenwood wraps up their regular season next weekend at Robert Morris. Puck drop from Moon Township, Pa is set for 6 p.m. CT on Friday, February 13.
