Men's Volleyball Drops Road Contest at McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. – The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (15-3, 6-2 MIVA) saw their six-match winning streak snapped on Friday evening, as they fell 3-1 (22-25, 23-25, 25-16, 20-25) on the road at No. 13 McKendree. With the loss, the Lions split their regular season series against the Bearcats.

Despite the result, Lindenwood posted a .231 hitting percentage compared to McKendree's .194 percentage. The Lions also recorded more kills, blocks, and total points than the Bearcats while committing fewer service errors.

Owen Walsh led the Lindenwood attack with nine kills on a .615 hitting percentage, which was highest in the match among players with 10 or more attacks. He also added two block assists and a service ace to his performance for a total of 11.0 points.

Brendan Louthain also posted double-digit points with an even 10 on seven kills, two service aces, and a pair of block assists.

The Lions led 11-9 in the opening frame before the Bearcats surged ahead with a 6-0 run. Lindenwood was able to pull back to within a point two separate times but were unable to tie or take the lead. Set two featured six early lead changes, but after McKendree took a 14-12 lead, Lindenwood failed to regain their advantage, with neither side scoring consecutive points after the Bearcats went up 20-18 on back-to-back LU attack errors.

The Lions responded in the third set with a dominant 25-16 win that featured an 8-0 run to create separation, however, Lindenwood was unable to overcome a seven-point deficit in the fourth frame as they dropped the set and match.

The Lions travel to Charlotte next week for a pair of MIVA matches at Queens. The first contest is scheduled for Thursday, March 19th at 5:00 p.m. CT, with match two following on Saturday, March 21st at 12:00 p.m. CT
