Softball Splits Doubleheader With Bradley On Wednesday

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood Softball team (12-15, 2-4 OVC) split their doubleheader with Bradley on Wednesday as the Lions won the second game of the doubleheader by a score of 9-1. Four different Lions collected two or more RBI in the win over the Braves, with Anna Sanders leading the way with three RBI. Sanders was followed by Tori Hatton, Jolie McMinn, and Sadie Sexauer who each had a pair of RBI's in game two. 

Game One: Bradley 10, Lindenwood 0
The Braves exploded for seven runs on seven hits within the first two innings of the game to take an early 7-0 lead. Bradley added two more runs in the third inning and put up the final run of the game in the top of the fifth inning to take the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 10-0. Jolie McMinn, Sadie Sexauer, Stella True, and Justine Davidson all collected a hit for the Lions in the first game, while Ryleigh Owens and Samantha Roulanaitis combined to pitch two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The duo allowed three hits and one earned run to limit the Braves in the later stages of the game. Each pitcher also recorded a strikeout and combined to face 10 batters. 

Game Two: Lindenwood 9, Bradley 1
Tori Hatton got the Lions offense rolling early on as she hit a solo home run to left center field in the bottom of the first inning to put Lindenwood in front early by a score of 1-0. Sexauer and McMinn added on to the lead in the bottom of the third inning as both would drive in a pair of runs on singles and extended the Lions lead to 5-0. After the Braves got one run back in the top of the fourth inning, Hatton collected her second RBI of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning that brought home Izzy Wilcox to make it a 6-1 game. Later in the inning, Emily Geary grounded out to the right side of the infield with one out and collected an RBI as Madisen Noll scored on the play to make it 7-1 game. Anna Sanders would then end the game early as she hit a two-run double to left center field that scored Wilcox and Justine Davidson to pick up the 9-1 victory in five innings.

Lucy Pratt got the win in the circle for the Lions as she threw 2.2 innings out of the bullpen and allowed just one run to limit the Braves offense. Avery Wapp replaced Pratt in the top of the fourth inning with the bases loaded and needed just three pitches to end the Braves threat as Wapp struck out Bradley's Kierston McCoy to keep the Braves at one run for the inning. Lindenwood finished game two with 10 hits and were led by Hatton, who went 3-3 with a home run and two singles and pushed her batting average up to .322 on the season. 

Lindenwood will now travel to Tennessee Tech this weekend to resume conference play. The Lions will play two games on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. CT with a single game scheduled for Sunday.
