The Lindenwood lacrosse team (3-6, 0-1 ASUN) fell in its conference opener to Liberty (3-5, 1-0 ASUN) by a score of 19-8 on Thursday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
Liberty took a quick 2-0 lead with a pair of free position goals. The Lions got on the board halfway through the quarter as
Carly Thiel went cost-to coast, cutting the deficit in half at 2-1. Less than a minute later,
Luci Selander found
Reese Krieger who tied the game with 7:35 to go in the first. Neither team scored the rest of the way and the game was tied at two after one.
The Flames scored the first five goals of the second period to take a 7-2 advantage with 6:56 to play.
Nicole Gorman netted the next two goals to cut the deficit to 7-4 with just under three minutes to play. Liberty scored just before half to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
To begin the second half, Liberty came out hot, scoring six goals in the first five minutes of play to go ahead 14-4. The Flames continued to extend the lead before
Claire Blue found the back of the net off a feed from
Breckin Hare, making the scire 17-5 after three.
Lindenwood got goals from
Maddie MacLeod,
Reese Krieger, and
Isabella Jahkhah in the fourth, but it wasn't enough as the Lions fell 19-8.
