Baseball Drops Game Two at UT Martin

Series finale set for Sunday at 1 p.m.

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Lindenwood baseball team (11-15, 0-5 OVC) dropped their Saturday afternoon game at UT Martin (13-13, 2-3 OVC) by a score of 10-1. The Skyhawks scored eight runs through their final four at-bats to pull away for the series clinching win.

Seth Benes was tagged with the loss after allowing four earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts through five innings of work.

The Lions continued to struggle offensively, only managing six hits in the contest. LU's only run of the game was a Charlie Isom-McCall leadoff home run in the top of the first.

UT Martin immediately tied the game in the bottom of the first with a Payton RBI double before taking the lead in the home half of the second behind a pair of two-baggers from Popick and Lawerence.

The score remained 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but three Lindenwood errors in the frame allowed two unearned runs to come across to extend UTM's lead to 4-1. Things went from bad to worse for the Lions in the sixth, with a Lawrence two-run homer growing their deficit to five runs.

The Skyhawks added another run in the seventh before hanging a three-spot in the eighth after loading the bases with just one out.
