Lacrosse Earns 16-14 Win on Senior Day

The Lindenwood lacrosse team (6-9, 3-3 ASUN) picked up a 16-14 win over Stetson (2-11, 2-3 ASUN) on Senior Day on Saturday in ST. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Luci Selander and Alissa DiGiacinto. Stetson cut the lead in half, before DiGiacinto netted her second of the day at the 6:50 mark of the first, making the score 3-1. Just over a minute later, Reese Krieger put the Lions up three. Stetson scored late in the first and trailed 4-2 after one.

Stetson got two quick goals in the second, tying the game 4-4 before Tatum Bryant put the Lions back in front. Annie Wille grew the Lindenwood lead to two off a feed from DiGiacinto with just over nine minutes to play in the second. The Hatters answered back with the next three to go in front 7-6. Selander tied the game with another goal at 4:16 of the second period. However, Stetson scored the final two goals of the frame and led 9-7 at the break.

Both teams traded goals throughout the first half of the third quarter. Selander had all three Lindenwood goals, the last of which cut the deficit to 11-10 with 6:12 remaining. A few minutes later, Krieger knotted the game at 11, but the Hatters responded and took a 12-11 lead into the fourth.

DiGiacinto kept up her strong offensive day scoring her third less than a minute in to tie the game at 12. That score was the beginning of a 5-0 run which grew the Lindenwood advantage to 16-12. DiGiacinto had three goals during the run with the others coming from Krieger and Tatum Bryant. Stetson chipped away, getting within two at the 4:57 mark of the frame. However, that's as close as Stetson would get and Lindenwood picked up the 16-14 win on Senior Day
