On Saturday, the Ohio Valley Conference announced its postseason golf awards which featured Francisco Gavilan Fernandez of the Lindenwood men's golf team on the Second and All-Newcomer Teams

Gavilan has been one of Lindenwood's best golfers this season as a freshman. Across 24 rounds of golf, he has posted a scoring average of 72.3 which leads the team and ranks eighth in the conference. 14 of those rounds have been under par or better, including a season-low round of 64 during the opening 18 of the Missouri State Intercollegiate, a tournament that he took medalist at.

The native of Spain has posted three top 10 finishes and six top 20 finishes this season. He also took sixth at the Derek Dolenc Invitational and ninth at the Wildcat Invitational during the year.

Gavilan and the rest of the Lions are set to begin play at the OVC Championships tomorrow at Ackerman-Allen Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
