CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Tennis team (6-6, 3-2 OVC) fell in their final OVC match of the regular season on Monday afternoon at SEMO by a final score of 5-2.
Fabiana Labrador and
Paola Garcia were able to pick up singles wins at the number one and four spots to briefly tie the match at 2-2, but SEMO won the final three singles matches to take the match and handed Lindenwood their second straight loss for only the second time this season.
In doubles play, the Redhawks won at the number one and two spots, winning 6-3 at the number one spot over Garcia and Labrador, and finishing off the doubles win with a 6-1 victory at the number two spot over Michelle Trochez and Sofija Dunisijevic. Labrador and Garcia were able to rally in singles play, as Labrador defeated SEMO's Maja Bajorek in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 6-1 at the number one spot, and Garcia won at the number four spot with a 6-0, 6(7)-6(5) victory to give the Lions their second point of the match. However, the Redhawks took straight set victories at the number two, three, and six spots to grab a 4-2 lead, and finished off the 5-2 win with a three-set victory at the number five spot after Dunisijevic won the opening set 6-3, but SEMO's Saskia Soome rallied in sets two and three by scores of 6-2, 6-2 to give the Redhawks their fifth and final point of the match.
Lindenwood will stay on the road as they travel to Peoria, Ill. on Wednesday for their final road match of the regular season against Bradley. First serve with the Braves is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
