On Tuesday morning, College Sports Communicators released the 2026 Academic All District Teams for Baseball, with five Lindenwood student athletes making the list. The players to be named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District team includedÂ
Seth Benes,
Kam Edwards,
Josh Newell,
Filip Sarota, and
William Zareh – with all five possessing 4.0 cumulative GPAs. Benes and Newell were also selected as Academic All-America finalists.Â
Seth Benes, a Sport Management major, was named second team All-OVC this season after leading the conference during the regular season with an ERA of 2.33 while registering a league-leading 75 strikeouts through 85.0 innings pitched. He limited opponents to a batting average of .205, which was the second lowest mark in the conference during the regular season.
Kam Edwards, who majored in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Finance, made 57 starts for the Lions during the 2026 season, leading the team with 13 doubles while scoring 38 runs and driving in an additional 14. He was also second on the team with 22 stolen bases to bring his career total to a Lindenwood NCAA era record 54 swiped bags.
Josh Newell, who also majored in Sports Management, was named first team All-OVC after posting a 6-5 record with a 2.51 ERA, registering 58 strikeouts through a league-leading 93.1 innings pitched during the regular season. In conference play, he had the lowest ERA among starting pitchers with a mark of 2.53.
Filip Sarota, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling major, made 53 total appearances with 51 starts for the Lions during the 2026 season. He finished the year second on the team with 32 RBIs and 11 doubles.
William Zareh, who majors in Sports Management, made 49 total appearances with 48 starts for Lindenwood. He finished tied for third on the team with five homers, including a walk-off grand slam against Murray State, while driving in 31 runs, which was also third most on the team.
The Lions finished the 2026 season with an overall record of 30-28, completing back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time during the Division-I era.
