On Tuesday morning, the Lindenwood Softball program officially announced the hiring of new assistant coach, Madalyn Bone. Bone, a native of De Soto, Missouri, spent the last two seasons at St. Louis University where she helped guide the Billikens to their first Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Championship in 2025, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Prior to SLU, Bone was an assistant coach at Fontbonne University during the 2024 season.

"We're excited to welcome Madalyn to our program. She brings great energy, a passion for developing student-athletes and a strong defensive background. She has been apart of championship programs throughout her career, including helping St. Louis University win it's first conference championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. She has also built strong relationships throughout the St. Louis softball community through her work, developing players and coaching with the St. Louis Chaos and other local programs. I'm looking forward to collaborating with Madalyn as we continue developing our student-athletes and working toward our goal of winning an OVC championship. " said Head Coach Erin Brown.

During her days as a player, Bone was a five-year (2019-23) starter and two-time team captain for Missouri Baptist. She earned All-Conference honors three times, including a first-team nod in her final season when she posted a team-high .389 batting average and helped lead the Spartans (35-18-1 overall, 17-3 conference) to an American Midwest Conference regular-season co-championship. Bone registered a .321 career batting average, collected 170 hits in 172 games, and struck out only 20 times in 589 plate appearances.

She has also spent time as an instructor at the DTJ Sports Academy in St. Charles, Mo., served as the head coach of the St. Louis Pirates Fastpitch Club, and was an assistant coach for the St. Louis Illusions Softball Association, while also initiating the De Soto feeder team for younger girls.

Bone will be joining a program who is coming off a season in which the Lions set the LU Division I era record for wins in a single season (32), as well as an OVC Championship game appearance for the first time in program history.
