Lindenwood Men's Soccer started off 1-0 for the first time in back-to-back seasons since the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Fifth Year Forward Luca Bartoni scored his first career brace with both of his goals coming in the second half, while Freshman Forward Philip Viberg Rasmussen scored his first collegiate goal in the 27th minute of the first half on Thursday against Chicago State to secure the 3-0 victory over the Cougars in the 2026 season opener. The Lions allowed just two shots defensively, and recorded 18 shots of their own with 11 of them being on target. The back-to-back 1-0 starts to the 2025 and 2026 seasons also marks the first time in the Division I era that the Lions have accomplished this feat.
 
Lions Storylines

• Luca Bartoni tied his single game career-high in points with four on Thursday night against Chicago State. His two goals scored was also a single game career-high. 
• Quinn Closson posted his seventh shutout in 11 games played as a member of the Lions. Closson has given up two goals in over 800 minutes played since the start of the 2025 season. 
• Five different players recorded a point in the season opening win. Newcomers Ryan Holmes and Gabriel Tonks, along with returner Luke Neely, each added an assist while Freshman Forward Philip Viberg Rasmussen recorded three points by scoring the first goal of the game and adding an assist on the final goal of the game. 

 
About IU Indy

• The Jaguars dropped a close contest in their season opener on Thursday night, falling to Louisville by a score of 2-1. IU Indy was outshot 18-6 in the game, but found the back of the net in the 70th minute on a penalty kick. 
• Senior Forward Jose Antonio Herrera returns to the Jaguars after being selected to the All-Horizon League Third Team last season as a Junior. Herrera started all 17 matches last season and played a team-high 1,456 minutes while recording seven points (three goals, one assist). 
• IU Indy went 6-8-3 in 2025 and posted a 2-0 record against Ohio Valley Conference opponents.The Jaguars defeated Southern Indiana by a score of 3-2 and also beat Western Illinois 3-1.
