The Lindenwood men's golf team finished in a tie for 13
th at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational this week at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill.
OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the tournament with a team score of 287 led by
Francisco Gavilan Fernandez who carded a two-under 69. The native of Spain posted a bogey free front nine with a pair of birdies. He was closely followed by
Owen Shy and
Samuel Bergenstein who shot 72.
Bruno Machalica also registered a pair of birdies on his way to a 74. Rounding out the lineup in his season debut was
Ludvig Behring with a 77,
Lindenwood shot a 287 in round two as well, led by Fernadez once again with a two-under 69. Behring improved by six strokes from the first round with an even par 71 across the second 18. Shy and Bergenstein were just behind him with 73 and 74, respectively. Machalica finished by shooting 76 in round two.
In round three, Lindenwood carded a 296 with four players shooting 74. Bergenstein was one of those players and he was one-under on the back nine with three birdies. Fernandez also had a trio of birdies on his card across the final 18.
