BRENTWOOD, Tenn. –
Peyton Johnson has been tabbed as Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week following another strong performance on the Lindenwood backline last week.
Johnson played the entire 90 minutes for the Lions at Southern Illinois on Thursday, anchoring a Lindenwood backline that allowed just one goal. The Lions surrendered a total of seven shots in the contest while limiting the Salukis to just three attempts on target.
Johnson, a freshman from Oswego, Illinois, has been on the pitch for all 630 minutes of Lindenwood's seven contests this season.
Johnson becomes the second Lindenwood player to win an OVC weekly award this season, joining last week's Offensive Player of the Week
Mackenzie Compton.
The Lions return to Hunter Stadium this weekend to host Murray State. Kickoff against the Racers is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13th.
