2018
For the fourth consecutive year, Lindenwood cheerleading won a national title at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Team Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, but never before had the program won two titles the same year, until this season.  The Lions repeated as Large Coed Division II champions April 6, having won the same title in 2017, but they also hoisted the trophy in Small Coed Intermediate Division II on the same day, and even added a second place finish in Small Coed D2.
The Large Coed squad was solid in preliminary competition, earning a score of 93.58, despite suffering a deduction. That advanced the team in second place behind Grand Valley State University. Lindenwood performed beautifully in the finals to earn a score of 94.58, topping the Lakers by 0.63 points, to take the championship.
The Small Coed squad took a similar road, having to overcome deductions in the preliminary round. The Lions had the top raw score, but settled for 91.78 and third place as one of seven teams to advance. In the finals, Lindenwood improved its raw score and cleaned up the routine to finish with 94.80 and jump to the top spot with a 1.77 point margin over second place Shorter University (Ga.) and a 3.27 point margin over third place Bellarmine University (Ky.).Â
The Lions competed in Small Coed D2 for the first time and they made an immediate impact in the preliminaries with a score of 92.12 for second place as one of seven teams to advance, just over two points behind Brinn College (Texas), but only 0.15 ahead of third place McKendree. Lindenwood increased its score to 93.50 in the finals and closed the gap, but not enough to overtake the Buccaneers, however the Lions solidified second place by over a point ahead of Central Oklahoma in third.
The two national titles became the fifth and sixth in program history.Â
