A.J. Koenig will be in his fourth season with the Lindenwood baseball program in 2015. His responsibilities include coaching the catchers and first basemen. He also is the first-base coach and assists with the hitters and base running.

Last season, Koenig helped Mike Failoni earn All-MIAA honors for the second straight season at first base. Failoni was among the MIAA leaders in batting average and on-base percentage, and was eighth in the MIAA in putouts. Behind the plate, Mike Wilson was in the top-11 among MIAA catchers with catching nine runners trying to steal.

In 2013, Koenig helped first baseman Failoni and Mike Wilson earn postseason honors. Failoni was a first-team All-American and All-MIAA performer after setting a MIAA record with a .500 batting average. Wilson was fourth on the team in hitting with a .310 mark and was an honorable mention All-MIAA pick. In 2012, first baseman Matt Tellor was a second-team All-ICAA selection after finishing second on the squad with 38 RBIs and 34 runs scored.

In his first two seasons at Lindenwood, Koenig has helped Lindenwood go 53-43 while making the transition to the NCAA Division II level. Lindenwood’s offense is hitting .308 and averaging 6.35 runs a game in that span.

Koenig is a long-time high school level manager in the St. Charles County Area, including spending the last 10 years as the manager of the West O’Fallon American Legion program. His teams have won over 350 games, and more than 80 former players advanced to the collegiate level and one has played professional baseball.

Koenig lives in O’Fallon, Mo. with his wife Lori. They have two kids, Kayla and Brett, and one grandson, Cameron.
