Troy Hood is entering his seventh year as head coach of the Lindenwood men’s lacrosse program and his ninth season as a collegiate head coach. He has a career collegiate record of 109-46, including a mark of 91-33 at Lindenwood.
Hood has overseen the development of the Lions lacrosse program into one of the top teams in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). Over the last five years, Lindenwood has gone 80-24 overall, including a 33-1 mark in conference play. The Lions won the conference tournament all five of those seasons and advanced to the national tournament.
During Hood’s tenure, Hunter Stadium has been one of the toughest places in the country for opposing teams, with Lindenwood compiling a 51-4 mark. Hood has coached 13 MCLA All-Americans and four players have received the top academic award from the MCLA.
Last season, Hood led Lindenwood to its top season in school history. The Lions won their first 12 games of the year and achieved their highest national ranking of seventh. Lindenwood was undefeated in conference play, won the conference tournament and just missed a victory in the first round of the national tournament, falling 10-9.
In 2008, Hood earned his first GRLC Division 1 Coach of the Year award and was awarded the Man of the Year Award by the coaches of the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association for his work in promoting prep lacrosse in Missouri.
Prior to coming to Lindenwood, Hood coached two seasons at Washington University (Mo.) where he amassed a record of 18-13 with two Conference Coach of the Year awards. The Bears won the inaugural GRLC Division “A” Championship under Hood in 2003, earning a trip to the 2003 USL-MDIA National Championship Tournament.
Hood graduated with a bachelor of arts in telecommunications from Michigan State University in 1990, and graduated from Lindenwood University with a MBA in 2006. He resides in Manchester, Mo. with his wife, Marian, and daughter Alexandra.
