Jason Power enters his 25th season of coaching as he began his career coaching his High School Varsity team, O'Fallon Panthers (Illinois) for the 1999-2000 season. He spent the first decade coaching multiple teams at the youth levels with the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks along with his High School Duties.
In 2009 he jumped to the Junior Hockey ranks with the Illinois Frontenacs of the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League. From there Jason would move up to the North American Hockey League with the Springfield JR Blues. Jason would also spend time as a scout for the league and eventually as an Assistant Coach with the Topeka Pilots.
In 2012 Coach Power worked at his first USA Hockey National Camp in Rochester, NY. He would go on to work 8 national camps over the following years and is a staple at various District Camps for USA Hockey. He is also a presenter for USA Hockey Coaching Education Program, a position he has held since 2010. Coach Power has had the honor to travel around the country and speak at coaching education seminars.
In 2016 Jason would join the Romania Federation for the IIHF U18 Div 2A World Championships where the team won the Silver Medal. Jason would return to the Romanian Bench for the 2019 IIHF U20 World Championships as an Assistant and again for the 2022 IIHF U20 World Championships but this time in a Head Coaching Capacity. He proudly registered his first World Championship win as a Head Coach against Great Britain.
In 2018 Coach Power would join the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League and then the Lincoln Stars.
Jason came to Lindenwood for the 2019-20 season to help the program begin its build to NCAA Hockey. During his three years with Lindenwood at the ACHA D1 level the team would win the CSCHL Championship each year and the 2022 ACHA National Title.
During its first NCAA Division I season in 2022-23, Lindenwood garnered attention around college hockey, playing a competitive schedule against many of the top teams in the nation while winning seven games. The Lions win total is the most for a first-year program since the 2015-16 Arizona State Sun Devils who had three victories against Division I opponents. Lindenwood won the most games against Division I opponents since the 2012-13 Penn State Nittany Lions who had 11 wins that season.
The first Division I victory came in wild fashion. On October 14, the Lions trailed Air Force by four goals midway through the second period. Lindenwood answered with five unanswered goals to pick up the 7-6 win. With the victory, Lindenwood became the first men’s hockey program this century to earn their first Division I win after trailing by two or more goals.
The Lions presented a balanced attack this season, seeing Lindenwood have eight players register five or more goals this season. Two of those players, Andy Willis and Ryan Finnegan went on to sign professional contracts after the season.
