Greg Haney is entering his third season with the Lindenwood coaching staff in 2020-21.
Haney and the Lions compiled a record of 5-24-5, 3-15-2 CHA in 2019-20. The Lions claimed four CHA Player of the Week honors, including three CHA Goalie of the Week accolades. Lindenwood had a pair of players with double-digit points, including Sierra Burt who registered 11 assists to lead the team.
The Lions earned a 1-1 tie against No. 4 Clarkson University on October 25. Lindenwood earned a two-game sweep against RIT on January 17 and 18, posting wins of 3-0 and 2-0, respectively. It was the first time the Lions shutout a CHA opponent in back-to-back games since joining the league. Lindenwood registered a 3-2 victory over the top team in the conference, Mercyhurst, on February 7.
Haney came to Lindenwood after spending three seasons on the University of New York at Oswego coaching staff. Haney helped lead the team to a 40-32-8 record during his three seasons along with the 2018 NEWHLF Conference Championship. In the two years prior, Oswego reached the ECAC West semifinal round and helped the squad to a national ranking of No. 7 in 2017.
He was the lead recruiting coordinator that brought in 2017 ECAC West Rookie of the Year in Jacqulin White and 2018 first-team all-NEWHL member Kate Randazzo. Randazzo was also named 2018 NEWHL Scholar Athlete of the Year while the team had the highest GPA in Oswego Athletics in 2017.
Prior to his stint in New York, Haney was the assistant men’s hockey coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Haney was part of the staff that led the team to a 23-7-1 record including the 2016 NCAA DIII National Championship in which the team took second place. Stevens Point won the WIAC regular season championship and helped head coach Chris Brooks earn conference co-coach of the year.
Greg spent one season as the Steven Point Central JV hockey head coach in which the team went 18-0. Prior to the high school coaching stint, Haney spent two season with Western New England University and served as the recruiting coordinator.
Haney was a three-year letter winner at State University of New York at Cortland. Haney earned SUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors, but his career was cut short due to injury. Haney served as the student assistant during his final season.
Haney earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from State University of New York at Cortland. He is working on his master’s degree in educations from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
