Nena Garcia

Coach Nena Garcia begins her second year as Assistant Women’s Wrestling Coach at Lindenwood. Garcia brings over four years of experience to the position, having first coached the junior varsity and freshman teams at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky while she was still a member and two year captain of the varsity team. Garcia has hosted wrestling camps and clinics in Ohio and Texas and was the assistant coach for the Ohio Women’s Junior National Freestyle team in 2007 and 2008. In 2010, she was a volunteer coach for the Whitley County, Kentucky Youth Wrestling program and still volunteers at her high school when possible.

Garcia has 19 years of actual wrestling experience having started when she was just four years old. With no sanctioned female wresting in the state of Ohio, she was the only girl that wrestled for the Flier Amateur Wrestling Club until she was 11, and then for the all-male teams at McPherson Middle School and Clyde High School, where she earned two varsity letters for what was then one of the top teams in the state.

At the Cumberlands, she was a two time University Nationals All-American, a two time U.S. Senior Open All-American and placed 4th in the women’s circuit at the World Team Trials in 2009.

Garcia is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree at Lindenwood University.
