The Lindenwood Lady Lions (0-3) basketball team ran into a hot shooting Columbia College Lady Cougars (2-1) team on Friday night and fell, 99-52.
The Lady Cougars dominated the Lady Lions on the glass, out-rebounding Lindenwood, 54-27. Not only did the Lady Cougars rebound very well, they shot 52 percent (37-71) from the field and 50 percent (11-22) from behind the arc, compared to the Lady Lions 29 percent from the field and 17 percent from behind the arc.
Whitney Widaman led the way for the Lady Cougars scoring a game-high 32 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Widaman was one of four Lady Cougars who scored in double figures. Veronica Smith scored 14 points and Janita Session and Whitney Davis both chipped in with 12.
Once again
Cassie Williams led the way for the Lady Lions with 13 points and five rebounds. Freshmen
Kelly Albers and
Casey Junge also chipped in eight points apiece. The game was the first for interim head coach Jenone Bell.
With the loss the Lady Lions drop to 0-3 on the year and now have a road game against NCCA Division II, University of Missouri-St. Louis, on Monday night.
