Lady Lions Basketball Falls to Evangel

The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team made their return to the Hyland Performance Arena for the first time in over a month and took on conference foe, Evangel. The Crusaders would use a an 8-0 run in the middle of the second half to take a 20 point lead and would wind up beating the Lady Lions, 79-64.
Lindenwood came out on fire in the first shooting over 60 percent and would hold a lead of five early in the first half. The Crusaders would claw back but once again the hot shooting of the Lady Lions would push lead back to five. But a late 15-0 run would spark the Crusaders to a ten point halftime lead.
After a hot shooting first half for the Lady Lions the second half was not as good. The Lady Lions would shoot 37 percent in the second stanza and that is all the Crusaders needed. They would extend the lead all the way up to 20 before finishing off Lindenwood by 15.
Leading the way for the Lady Lions was Abby Schultenhenrich who led Lindenwood with 15 points and was 3-of-7 from behind the arc. No other Lady Lions scored in double-digits as Kelly Albers, Casey Junge and Cassie Williams poured in nine points apiece.
Evangel was led by Ashlee Luko who scored a game-high 21 points and also grabbed six rebounds. All of the Crusaders points but six came from their starters.
With the loss the Lady Lions drop to 2-7 and 1-2 in conference play. Lindenwood is off until January 1st when they travel to the Tabor classic.
