The Lindenwood men's basketball team opened conference play Thursday night with a convincing 84-53 win over Culver-Stockton. Nine different Lions scored six points or more as the team shot a blistering 58 percent from the field.
The Lions hit five-of-eight three-pointers in the first half and led by as many as 13 points before settling for a 38-28 lead at the break. Lindenwood opened the second half on 20-5 run fueled by a pair of three-pointers from both
Alfred Nelson and
Richard Rose and the Wildcats never recovered. The Lions would connect on a total of 12 three-pointers against Culver-Stockton.
Brandon Kunkel led all scorers with 15 points and hit four-of-six three-pointers. Rose finished with 13 and Nelson added 11. Both Rose and Nelson each hit three three-pointers.
Toriano Adams chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Tyler Donaldson also had eight rebounds in the victory.
As a team, Lindenwood shot 60 percent from behind the three-point line and finished with a season high 24 assists. Culver-Stockton attempted only four free throws compared to 21 for the Lions, who never trailed in the game. Lindenwood held the advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Wildcats 39-23.
Lindenwood (7-2, 1-0) will travel to Baker this Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
