Anias Futrell from the Lindenwood Men's Basketball team has signed his first pro contract overseas with ZZ Leiden in The Netherlands, which was announced by the club on Thursday.
Futrell, a two year starter for the Lions, is coming off one of his best seasons as a collegiate basketball player in 2025-26 as the native of St. Louis, Mo averaged a team-high 17.4 points per game while also leading the team in three point field goal percentage (36.5%), free throw percentage (83.7%), and field goals made (187). The 6'5 guard finished top five in the OVC during the 2025-26 season in seven different statistical categories and led the Ohio Valley Conference in points per game (20.5) and three pointers made (60), while finishing second in three point field goal percentage (38.5%). Futrell also finished fourth in field goal percentage (44.8%), free throw percentage (84.1%), steals (43), and defensive rebounds (100) during conference play.
He scored in double digits in 18 out of 20 conference games played during the 2025-26 season and scored 20 or more points in 12 of those contests, including a career-high 36 points against Western Illinois back on December 18, 2025. He knocked down five or more three pointers in seven conference contests and was named the OVC Player of the Week three different times throughout the season. He also finished second in the OVC Player of the Year voting and became the first Lion to lead the OVC in scoring both in conference play and overall.
"We are so happy for Anias. He was such a huge part of our program and helping us build success. He has always had the talent and professionalism to have a great pro career. I look forward watching his next step." said Head Coach
Kyle Gerdeman.Â
Futrell will look to make an immediate impact with his new team in ZZ Leiden, which has been a member of the Dutch Basketball League, the highest league in the Netherlands, since 2006.Â
