The No. 12 Lindenwood men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to five games Saturday night, defeating Baker 70-57. The Lions held the conference's third-highest scoring team to 18 points below its season average.
In the first half, Lindenwood continued to shoot well from long range, connecting on three three-pointers to fuel a 33-25 lead at the break. After halftime, the Lions worked the ball inside and got to the free throw line to pull away for the win.
The Lions held Baker to 40 percent shooting on the night and to 33 percent from behind the three-point line. Coming into tonight's contest, the Wildcats ranked 21st in the nation in three-pointers made. Lindenwood shot 24-of-36 from the charity strip, attempting 22 more shots than Baker. The Lions also held the advantage on the glass, outrebounding the home team by a 40-26 margin, including 11 offensive rebounds.
Richard Rose was the leading scorer for Lindenwood with 14 points and
Brandon Kunkel added 13.
Alfred Nelson chipped in with nine and
Joey Parker tallied eight points and three assists.
Jerome Douglas had a team-high eight rebounds.
Lindenwood (8-2, 2-0) will host Evangel this Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
