Lions Men's Soccer Wins in Double OT

The Lindenwood Lion men's soccer team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on the visiting Harris-Stowe Hornets but the Lions would see that lead vanish in the second half. Thanks to an overtime goal with seven minutes remaining in double overtime by Dule Djurasevic, the Lions would survive and beat the visiting Hornets, 3-2.

Djurasevic also scored the game's opening goal to give the Lions the 1-0 lead. The Lions would go to the half up 2-0 thanks to a late goal by Alexander Rivera.

The second half saw the Lions dominate the play recording seven shots to Harris-Stowe's four, but the Hornets would lead the category that counted the most, goals. Ameir Mahdi scored in the 51st minute to get the Hornets within a goal. After a skirmish in front of the net, Jensel Olascaga would bury a rebound to tie the game for Harris-Stowe.

The overtime game was the second time the Lions have gone into extra time. With the win they are now 1-0-1 in overtimes.

Friday's win improved the Lions to 2-5-1 and the Hornets drop to 4-3-1. Next up for the Lions is their first HAAC Conference game against Mid American Nazarene on September 26.
