The Lindenwood field hockey team lost to visiting Bellarmine University (Ky.), 4-1, Saturday afternoon. The loss snapped the Lions' three game winning streak.
Bellarmine, who led 3-0 at half time, jumped on the Lions early, getting a quick score from Samantha Biedron just four minutes into the contest. The Knights extended their lead to two when Christina Bowman scored off a rebound at the 18:00 mark. Seconds before the first half concluded, Biedron found Emily West on the left side for the Knights' third goal.
Despite trailing by three goals, the Lions had opportunities in the first half but were unable to convert. Their best chance came on a breakaway from
Haley McCulloch, but Bellarmine goalie, Katie Lange, made an impressive kick save.
Lindenwood's
Irene Taranhike cut the deficit to two early in the second half with the Lions' only goal. McCulloch find Taranhike streaking up the field, who collided with the Bellarmine goalkeeper, but still managed to find the back of the net for her fourth goal on the season.
Bowman added an insurance goal late in the half to cap the scoring.

Caitlin Erickson, made eight saves on the afternoon but allowed all four goals.
The Lions (3-5) will have the week to regroup and prepare for their next contest which is scheduled against Bellarmine in Kentucky, on October 4, at 11 a.m.
